One band that might be of interest to Daysleepers fans is Lower Heaven. They're another recent group with a darker, sleeker approach to shoegaze. While The Daysleepers are, imo, more rhythm-oriented (how could you not be with a drummer that awesome?), Lower Heaven focuses more on melody. This is one of my favorite tracks:

Other options:
-No Joy (kinda derivative, but good)
-The Sunshine Factory (a touch on the sunny side, as their name suggests)
-LSD and the Search for God (I think they only have EP, but it's a doozy)
-Alcian Blue (did someone mention this already?)
-Air Formation (not as soaked in modulation and chorus, but I think they evoke a similar mood)
I'll add more as they occur to me.
