For those thinking of going to the DC show tonight, be forwarned that a lot of the local characters who use to snip at Ulrich Schnauss or anything Gaze related are planning on attending tonight; along with those of us who were there all along for each of the bands. In other words, don't even think of attending fashionably late or you will get shut out. The buzz is humming strong for this one.
Crazy me, I'm opting for the DC show over the Baltimore one, for a variety of reasons, even though it's about 60 miles and an hour and a half commute away from me versus a local jaunt. Have to be at work early on Sunday so I can't make any promises about being at the Baltimore show.
See you there. Redens, I hope somehow we'll find each other so we can say hello to each other. Always nice to officially meet a regular from this forum. _________________ Take flight with Air Atlantic Underground Radio

nice review of the DC gig |
Yes, it is. The guy who wrote that is one of the DJs on my station, Air Atlantic Underground Radio.
Sound issues aside on Friday night, I really enjoyed all of the bands. All have their own signature sounds yet work very well together. A full night of very good music. Andy, not sure if you are aware of this but the show sold out sometime during your set and afterwards they were turning people away all night. The word on the street is all good regarding each band. Great for the Gaze scene in DC; however, the down side is that it will only bring in more of those annoying scenester faux hipster chatters. I got stuck standing next to the specfic girls everyones been bitching about around here.
Wait! What the hell is going on in my life!? Every time I write to someone about some band and my station is playing, that very band starts playing on the air. Yes, Luxa just started airing. This is getting very freaky for me and it's way beyond coincidence. Kind of cool though.
Anyway, back to my regularly scheduled post: As good as Friday's show was, buggy sound aside, Saturday's show in Baltimore was even better. First off, I'm blown away with how The Metro has compensated for all that glass space and greatly improved their sound. It still has your average smallish venue sound but nothing like it was before. I've been converted and very happily so. All the bands not only sounded better but you could visually see they were so much happier with things while they were on stage. Have to also take a moment to note that Screen Vinyl Image was the best I've ever seen them. I overheard someone else saying the same thing. Everything just seemed to gel that night.
At the end of the evening after almost everyone left the place and I too had taken a step towards the door, I saw something that gave me a clue to stick around a bit and it paid off. Don't know if this was planned or if it was just a totally impromptu move but Jake from SVI, Andy from Luxa, Ulrich and most of the guys from Auburn Lull got up on stage and had a nice little one song jam session. Quite a nice surprise and treat. Did you guys plan this and did you do this for any of the other shows? Either way, thank you. I really enjoyed both nights. _________________ Take flight with Air Atlantic Underground Radio

yeah i heard the dc show sold out when i went outside after we'd finished. the sound..ugh...nightmare. that place has some problems. baltimore was a blast. total redemption from friday nights troubles.
as for the late night jam. that's something that happens on the regular after certain shows with ulrich. it's something he likes to do. he's jammed with members of mahogany, elika and project skyward to name but a few. people are so quick to run out. you should stick around, ya never know what's gonna happen. but yeah, that was alot of fun for sure. my bandmates girlfriend got about 7 minutes of it on video and if the sound is ok and everyone else is fine with it it may see the light of day on you tube....
p.s. thanks for playing us! _________________ www.lovelessmusicgroup.blogspot.com |
