Sorry but I don't buy this "we are not Amazon" stuff. It's not about getting the CD in 10 days or anything. I have been waiting over 1 year so I don't care about whatever delay. What I (we?) did not like and missed was that friendly attitude etc. No e-mail, no explanation. Anything at all. One mistake? Do not want to be an a-hole but if you do something like this you should not be in this business at all. I would expect such thing from band's home made CDr's (Colour, Offering) or really indie label (Cloudberry).
Why there's no info about it on Cherry Red website BTW? I think only 1% of people who purchased that CD know about this forum.
They are not charity. They do this job for living.
P.S. Early Butterfly Child stuff was okay. Didn't like the last American release that much. |

I think you need to cut them a bit of slack, Hockeycoat.
Firstly, most labels don't have their own in-house mastering staff. They contract this out to other companies. As soon as I read here (linked from the Come Heaven site) in March of this year that a repressing had been made, I emailed Cherry Red to ask whether to send them just the disc itself for replacement, or the case and cover too.
They responded the same day, asking me to send the whole thing, and the rest happened as detailed in my previous post.
So whilst it's been a year since the faulty reissue, it's been much less time since the replacements became available.
So what went wrong, Hockeycoat? Did you email them and get no response? Did you try again? Did you send your CD back and receive no replacement? Or what? _________________ Born to be hanged. |

indeed it's strange like Hockeycoat says, they made no effort or whatsoever to contact customers that bought the cd let made some effort to let know through their website or newsletter !!!
To me, this all stinks ........
I willl never buy from them again ... |

How many of you actually noticed that much of a difference when the first reissue came out? I dont have the original,, but from the general response when the reissue came out when most people seemed happy with it, I dont feel like I am missing much or feel cheated in any way.
Or is it just the principal of it being a fake remaster? |

I'm gonna defend Cherry Red here coz they release some amazing stuff and if people don't look after labels like this they will dissapear soon.
I'll bet you more than 1% of people who bought the reissue DO read this forum. How many people do you think will buy this album? I'm not justifying their mistake but if your "friend" hadn't spotted this you would never have been any the wiser. I'll be surprised if this album shifts more than 2,000 copies and it looks like they are going to have to replace them. Do you know how much it costs to release an album? |

Meanwhile he was checkung it from simple reason. We talked about how crappy the CD sounded and that was the reason why.
Yes. I know how much it costs.
1000? Was more for sure.
BTW nobody reads this forum anymore. I would be shocked if 20 people from 15 who visit this board bought Whirlpool.. |

i'd guess that most people here have bought whirlpool at some point. probably not this remastered version though. personally i still have the japanese version and the vinyl with the die die die 7" mint. within the past year i've sold off my copies of rownderbowt and blood music with the pentamerous metamorphosis disc on ebay as i have this feeling that all this stuff is gonna get officially rereleased at some point in the nearer future. |

How often do you actually log in? It's probably a matter of opinion. I did not count all the threads about Daysleepers so maybe that was the issue.
Hahaha. Seems like you are pretty funny guy Interpol. At least something positive associated with that name (if not the music). Hah. I am still laughing.
And don't worry. I am already gone. |

P.S. To Stewpot. I read your post again and did not get it honestly. Why did you even ask whether I know how much it costs (to release an album)? What was your point? And about which great shoegazing releases are you talking about? With which new artists did they come lately? The Best of Adorable? Bloodmusic (Chapterhouse rather did themselves this time)? Do they ever care about new names or do they only re-release stuff? I hope you'll agree that this costs less than investing into new names.
I still did not get that Q. What did you want to say? That we (I) should shut up and be happy with what I got (mp3 disc) because Cherry otherwise release some reissues you like? They did not hand it to us (me) for free. I paid 550 Crowns for it (35 dollars or so, I am not sure how much went to Cherry Red since I bought it in local store). It is unfortunate. I am not happy about it. But it is risk of making some goods for money. If my father's company do some bad product, I am not sure his customers will not want their money back because he is otherwise a good guy, not really rich either.
I hope it will please you to know that I'll stick with my original CD (Dedicated). I won't pay 10 extra bucks to return my copy to them back now. I do not even know where to since I didn't get reply.
Okay. Now I am gone. Sorry Interpol. |

don't know if it's appropriate to talk about the "whirlpool - the original recordings" cd here, but are those the same tracks that ultimately became the final album? or are they just demos? some of the arrangement and notes are different from the original. just curious, thanks for any info!
btw the track "thrasher" is "satin safe" |
