I am sorry I do not know the answer about which program can be used on mac but I will ask my friend about it. Maybe Adobe Audition?
Yes. You are right. I searched the Internet and there really was no official word about "remastering". It doesn't change a thing about our problem here though.
I sent an e-mail to Meg Greenhorn and this is what she wrote back to me:
| Meg wrote: | | I have forwarded your previous email on to the production manager and am waiting from a response. None of us that read your email and checked the message board can believe that Cherry Red would make a cd from MP3s, we are awaiting for a response from the production manager to confirm. |
So I am waiting too. Even though the picks speak the best. There are no ifs or buts IMO. |

Thank you for info. As I said, I did not want to be a killjoy here and spread negative mood. But I believe the band and fans would deserve better than this. I am a HUGE fan myself and that's why I was so dissapoainted. I was looking forward to have all Chapterhouse stuff on new discs (as my old cd's are way too played out, some even have scratches). At least we got lyrics. People who can't speak English like me had to appreciate this . |

What kind of Mac do you have? And do you use any DAWs? As there are a couple of free plug-ins that you could use, both are AU and VST.
Hockeycoat, if they want more proof ... let me know, and I'll gladly do the test as well, I just have to get my hands on a copy of the CD. _________________ audiowhore |

I'm still utterly pissed off with myself over my conscious decision to not buy Rowderbout when it was originally released on CD! _________________ God is a Shoegazer |

| This is confusing. There were actually two reissues of '"Whirlpool," one without "Rain" and "Die, Die, Die" and one with. Getting those two songs on the disc without using some compression somehwere would have been impossible, wouldn't it? I'm not at home so I don't know if my copy, without the two tracks listed above, is on Cherry Red, but I do still have my original copy of "Whirlpool." I didn't notice any difference, but I haven't listened critically. I'll give it a listen tonite. BTW, the Cherry Red reissue of "Taste" is definitely audibly inferior to the songs from "Taste" that were reissued on Bomp's "As Approved by the Committee." Take it from my Grado RS-1 headphones. |

There has never been any 18 track version. Yes. The original tracklisting from Cherry Red (reissue announcement) included 18 but the disc was released with 16. There is ONLY ONE reissue. All copies are the same. I checked also disc of my buddy who lives in USA and bought his CD via Amazon. So if you have that reissue disc, you have same crap as anyone. Don't worry . |

Does anyone know if this is riddled with problems:
The Charlottes - Liar: The Best of The Charlottes (Cherry Red)
It came out around the time of of Blind Mr. Jones or Chapterhouse.
Informative thread... Thank you |

maybe some copies got messed up
what program can i check this out on a Mac? |
Just because it sounds louder does not mean it is better. Search for information about the loudness wars. If anything it being louder is a sign it was mastered poorly. |
