shoegaze

What do you guys think? If you were replacing the pickups in a guitar, what would you suggest for those warm clean tones and the nasty overdriven ones?

For clean i would imagine some kind of single coil. For the hard stuff, maybe a double humbucking one, like the Dragsters? Thats what my Jaguar has, two of them, and it gets sick fuzz and big loud chords.

I get a nice distorted shoegaze sound out of my SD Screaming Demon humbuckers in the bridge position.

To be honest, I'd never really thought that much about pickups in regard to playing shoegaze.

I always felt that alot of those bands got their distorted tones from pedals and/or the amp, rather than the pickups.

If you're going for warm cleans though, I'd say that's a humbucker thing. Or how about P90's for a nice middle ground?
