I just got one off of ebay, and the first thing i noticed was noise. It is a bit noisy when turned on, even with everything down to the Zero setting. Is this normal for these amps, or did I get a bad one. it doesnt matter when I have the fuzz on, but i really wanted this amp to help my clean tone... This will work for gigs, but im not sure about its clean recording potential...

do you think it might be because it's solid state?

i used to use a solid state fender amp that had a nice clean but was noisy as fuck. sometimes they don't take to pedals that well.

This one makes the noise with no guitar or pedals in and the volume down, the guitar plugged in with volume down, guitar and effects plugged in volume down, etc...

Could be the fact that it is solid state. Im not that knowledgeable of the inner workings of amps, just some basic info on them...

Im actually really digging the sound of it. No interference when I am playing, except a little noise it adds, but it sounds pretty cool both distorted and with no fuzz or overdrive.

thats the way all jazz choruses are. they have inherent noise due to their design. even when there is no input.

id say try putting a noise gate in the f/x loop but a jc-90 doesnt have one. i own a 77 (same thing as the 90). someone who owns a jc-120 could post whether or not the gate trick helps any.

Im still in love with my amp. The Chorus on there turns my Devi Ever shoegazer from almost not bearable/usable noise, to way beautiful, controlled noise. I cant wait to get my Rocket and see what it sounds like through the amp.
