I recently picked up a Mustang reissue, and I'm loving the tones I'm getting out of it on everything from amped-up Swervedriver stuff to really the drifty Slowdive sort of thing (yeah, and the garage punk I play when I'm not staring at my sneakers)... which made me wonder - with all the fixation on Jazzmasters and Jags in the wide world 'o' shoegaze, does anyone know of any Mustang slingers in the field? Just curious, to see if I'm alone out there...

I love my Mustang as much as I love my Jaguar... they're just 2 different ladies I guess. I like the Mustang's simplicity and short scale.

Bilinda Butcher plays a (glittery) mustang on some songs when MBV plays live.

i was going to say i think mbv uses them quite a bit.

we have a 76 mustang and it sounds wicked. kim put a hot rails pickup and a joe barden on it cause the old microphonic pickups didn't like the loud SVI volume levels.

i agree with The Simple Machine, it is a very comfortable and easy to play guitar, much lighter than my jags.

wow!

i remember seeing that mustang when i saw MBV in toronto but i didn't realize until you posted that picture that they installed it with a jazzmaster style tremolo

this is cool..i'm lovin' me Mustang even more, i bought a 78' natural.almost relic in cosmetics tho. i've always wanted a jazzmaster, but heck it was expensive..

yeah, indeed it was easy to play, the neck is comfortable..most of all it sound good.

its an awesome guitar no doubt.. i have a 1967 light blue but the blue kind of started coming off and turned white.. when i got it, it was modified with a humbucker in it, but i swear by it....

i think that's just the standard jazz/jag trem arm. you can buy those at most guitar stores but i'm pretty sure if you have a normal mustang bridge it won't fit right. (her mustang looks customized)

I prefer my Jazzmaster, but also use this for recording:

1965 body & neck, refinished in orange nitro. MIJ reissue hardware, apart from original vibrato assembly and modern Lace Sensor Silver / Red pickups.
