Hey all, glad to be joining the community. I've lurked the board for a long time and finally decided to register. In the meantime, I've found this place to be a great resource for info on gear...which has fortunately/unfortunately contributed a great deal to my GAS...
Anyways, I am looking forward to contributing to the community. I can provide witty rejoinders, am a specialist in self-deprecation, and can also make really good blueberry waffles. Hopefully this bodes well for our future, eh comrades? |

Hi-
I'm a geezer living in central Minnesota USA and recently stumbled upon his forum. I grew up in a small town listening to top 40 and started listening to good music while in college in the mid 80's and stumbled upon Shoegaze late in the game when I picked up Loveless a few years ago and it blew my mind. Since then I have have loaded up on music by Ride, Slowdive, Bethany Curve and others. I am looking to discover more of the newer bands. I love Air Formation and have bought everything they've put out and Matt Bartram's Arundel. Other current bands I like are Fleeting Joys, Airiel, Film School, and Sway. I am looking forward to discovering more great music through this forum. - Jeff |

You already have a very good taste in music, Jeff! In my humble opinion, anyway...
Trawl this forum, and I am sure that you will find what you are looking for. All the main players in current Shoegaze post on here!

Hey, I'm Jake and am from Olympia, WA. I'm 21 and go to school at the Evergreen State College.
In Junior high and highschool I was greatly involved with the local punk scene and liked bands such as Consume, Blight, His hero is gone, Tragedy, Crass, and others. I still love all these bands and punk music but the problem was it was all too clean sounding... then I got a cocteau twins cd at a used cd store. Blew my mind, ever since then I've been hooked on the music and am just excited to meet other gazers. My favorite shoegaze bands right now are The Swirlies, My Bloody Valentine, Curve, Kitchens of Distinction. I'm really eager to be shown new music. uhmmmm yep. |

Hi all!
I'm Jordan, 25, from sunny Buffalo NY. I loooove pretty much all kinds of music, but I've been hardcore into shoegaze (and most weird guitar based stuff) for several years. I'm currently playing guitar in a band that does some dream-pop/shoegaze style songs.
Glad I found this forum, seems really cool. |

Hello all, i'm Rodrigo and i'm from Lima, Peru. I'm here to disciver new shoegaze / dreampop / space rock bands. Here in Lima we've got no shoegazing local scene, so i've been getting all my music through the internet.
I like a lot the typical bands like MBV, Ride, The Verve, Kitchens Of Distinction, etc. I don't like much gaze bands that have that "electronic" sound (because of the drum machines), but i can make exceptions (i love "those eyes, that mouth" by the Cocteau Twins).
I'll be satisfied if people in here can help me to find bands with a lot of soundwall in their music (and a lot of drones, too)
And to finish this reply, i recommend:
- Flying Saucer Attack
- Skywave
- The Horrors' "Primary Colours" album |

hey, I'm matt, 17 from Burlington Vermont. I started making music about a year and a half ago, and started out making weird abstract hip hop music (think clouddead, anticon stuff), I've learned how to play drums and keyboard moderately well, but my real fascination lies within sound and tone. I love messing with effects and creating entirely unique sounds which drew me into shoegaze. I love MBV FSA ect and am obsessed with the fuck buttons (not really shoegaze, but so noisy!) I currently don't actually play guitar, never even tried to, but my current musical projects are all about thick layered soundscapes using keyboards, synths, and lots and lots of pedals. While not necessarily shoegaze music, my biggest influences and inspirations come from the genre. and who knows, maybe sometime ill pick up a jazzmaster and see what happens |

Hello all,
Nice to meet you... My name is Lola, 23, and I love music. Like someone once said, without music, life would be an error. I've been slowly getting into shoegaze and, like many I guess, it all started with the Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. In the meantime I've developed a severe affection for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and the Brian Jonestown Massacre. They might not exactly be shoegaze bands, but through them I got into the genre more and more. Cocteau Twins, The Besnard Lakes, Spacemen 3, Ride, Slowdive...
Recently I've been following Zaza, the Warlocks, the Black Angels, Black Ryder and recently I saw Dark Horses. Always searching for more and deeper sounds...
Looking forward to this forum |

Thanks Sotired,
I'm very excited- already found about 10 new bands that I find interesting...!
And I shall not hesitate to mingle, after I'm done with the self-imposed initiation rite of mere observation |

Hi,
It's only polite to introduce myself here...
I'm Rich6by7, and I'm sure you can work out my favourite band based on that. They're not 100% shoegaze I admit, but they had a massive effect on me nevertheless. And their drummer, Chris Davis, is now a full-time member of Spotlight Kid, one of my favourite bands at the moment. Otherwise, I'm well into my Slowdive, Pale Saints, MBV, Asboi Seksu, Ecstasy of Saint Theresa, Chapterhouse, Serena Maneesh, Stellarium, Love Culture, Holy Roman Army, Film School... the list goes on.
Looking forward to coming across new shoegaze bands through this forum! _________________ "We demand rigidly-defined areas of doubt and uncertainty!" Vroomfondel, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy |

Hey all,
Long time reader first time poster. I’m 18 and from Canberra, Australia. Loveless was one of the albums I grew up with, my dad would play it nearly every day. Ive always loved MBV but its only been in the last year I’ve broadened my horizons on the shoegaze genre. And I have to say its easily become my favourite genre of music pretty damn quickly.
I love pretty much everything I’ve heard within the genre, but nothing gets me off more than the shoegaze bands at the more intense, distorted end of the spectrum. Well, as long as its loud and assaulting, really. (MBV, Loop, JAMC, Ride, Bailter Space, Fleeting Joys, etc).
I’ve been playing guitar since I was 12 and have been in several bands. But only recently actually had the money to buy good gear to be able to make the music I’ve wanted to. http://www.myspace.com/foucault39swhip here is a demo song me and my friends recorded only 3 days ago. Id appreciate any feedback we could get on the direction it’s taken.
Thanks guys, looking forward to becoming part of the forum. |
