It'd probably be a stock reissue jag/jazzmaster with a modded tremolo to make those types of effects easier to do.

the tremolo arm is really the only thing special/different about MBV's guitars.

I've just had a thought - I've seen photos of the recent MBV gigs, and have seen Bilinda's Mustangs with the Jazzmaster trems. What about it being the other way round, a jag with mustang trem? I'm not talking about a jag-stang, but a straight Jag shape with Mustang bridge/tremolo.

I doubt Fender would consider signitures for MBV, I'm pretty sure their guitars are just standard with a bent trem arm.

I believe Belindas Mustang with Jazzmaster trem was put together by Phillippe Dubreuille in Denmark st. I had my Jazzmaster set up & the frets stoned by him last year, he did all that plus replaced some of the electrics for the price most techs would charge for a basic set up, plus the turnaround was next day!
He mentioned he had worked on Kevin Shields Jazzmasters when I was down there. Really nice guy & for his workmanship, well you only have to view his client list.
